A 20-year old man committed suicide at Murogi estate in Nakuru town yesterday morning.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko said the deceased Simon Wafula Muletangi sent her wife Helen Nekoye to a shop and on her arrival, she found him having committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of rope.

“The deceased sent her wife to the nearest shop at around 10am and to her surprise, she found his body dangling from the roof of the house,” said Kioko.

Kioko said his wife reported the incident to police officers who took his body to Nakuru Municipal Mortuary for postmortem. He said the wife informed police officers that they did not have any conflict with her husband who did not leave behind any note explaining why he took his life.

The OCPD said the region has reported numerous cases of suicides and called on residents to talk out their issues instead of committing suicide..

“There are about four incidences since the new year where people have committed suicide due to family disputes that can be prevented through dialogue,” said Kioko.

He encouraged families to involve local administration in solving issues affecting them for instance property inheritance that he said are linked to most deaths that have been reported to his office.

“Children should observe law that will enable them solve inheritance issues facing their families instead of picking quarrels that might cause unexpected deaths,” he said.

He was referring to an incident where four children attacked and caused serious injuries to their father who succumbed to death while undergoing treatment at the Rift Valley Provincial Hospital.
