MPs angry over absentee colleagues

Angry MPs Wednesday turned the heat on their absent colleagues for skipping House sittings.

The legislators lashed out at four MPs, namely Adan Keynan (Eldas), Irungu Kang'ata (Kiharu), Malulu Injendi (Malava), and John Waluke (Sirisia) who had sponsored bills and motions, but were not in the chambers.

The MPs sought to know why the said MPs had failed to check the Order Paper to plan to be in the chambers.

The legislators had been rushed through a motion to have examination fees scrapped only for them to end up with nothing to do because their colleagues were absent.

Mr Kang'ata later showed up and moved his motion on cheap loans for university students.

Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso promised to make a ruling on the sanctions for the absentee MPs.
