Ferdinard Waititu's candidacy causes fear in Kiambu

Following the demise of the late Muchai (May he rest in peace), the political atmosphere lingers on the airwaves in the vast Kabete constituency. “Chai” and “za macho” for Wanjiku is soon going to be the order of the day. Amidst all this political euphoria, many candidates have shown an interest in #OccupyTheSeat, some notable like “baba yao”.

I am neither a legislature nor a law student, but I enjoy reading for information on my rights in the sovereign rule of the land-constitution. Being a resident of Kabete (at the moment), questions have been raised on the eligibility of one man, who has caused fear even into other sub-counties within Kiambu County. Questions of his birthplace and registered voter locality cannot go unmentioned.

By virtue of reading the law, chapter 8, article 99(1) of 99(2), states the requirements for eligibility and qualifications and disqualifications for election as Member of Parliament. It is not written that you must be a resident of that place rather be registered as a voter, citizen of Kenya for at least the ten years immediately preceding the date of election, not a member of county assembly etc.

I beg to ask members of Kabete constituency, is Ferdinand Waititu a registered voter, does he meet the above requirements? Is he right to vie for that seat? Homabay County, Moses Kajwang’ was elected by his constituents with a majority vote. So, let Waititu be himself, campaign on merits not propaganda and if he wins, represent his constituents.

I wonder why constituents of Kabete are afraid, even the MCAs.

To follow the footsteps of George Muchai requires a strong verbal leader.

LET’S VOTE THE LEGACY OF GEORGE FOR DEVELOPMENT!
