Trans Nzoia village officials to wear uniform

Sub-county, ward and village administrators will be required to wear official uniforms after a bill on their dress code was passed in the county assembly on Thursday.

Governor Patrick Khaemba is expected to assent to the bill before its enforcement.

The draft law, tabled by Waitaluk Ward Representative Simon Makhanu, seeks to ease identification of officers at the grassroots as well as symbolise authority.

Mr Makhanu said residents had difficulty identifying the administrators.

"Uniforms will help to identify the administrators because they will be required to wear them during working hours," he said.

Sikhendu Ward Rep Andrew Kutitila said the administrators needed to emulate their counterparts in the national government.
