Police recover car stolen at Uhuru function

Nakuru, Kenya: Police in Nakuru are pursuing a car-theft cartel after a vehicle was stolen from the Gilgil National Youth Service Training College parking lot, during a pass out parade that President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over.

The owner of the stolen vehicle said he had parked it to attend the event but 25 minutes later he realised the car was not there, prompting an intense search.

Police recovered the vehicle from a compound in Pakawa where they also found numerous fake registration plates. There was no one in the compound when the vehicle was tracked.

"We got an alert that a vehicle belonging to a guest at the presidential function had been stolen," area DCIO James Leila said.
