Two in court over forgery of General Service Unit stamp and possession of firearms

Nairobi, Kenya: Two men accused of forging a General Service Unit (GSU) stamp and being in possession of seven rounds of ammunition were on Monday arraigned before a Nairobi court.

Mohamed Shebwana and Mohamed Hassan Titi appeared before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Hannah Ndung' but denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused forged a stamp purporting it to be a genuine one used by the commanding Officer General Service Unit, Headquarters Company within Nairobi County.

On another count Shebwana was charged with being in possession of ammunition without a firearm certificate contrary to the law.

The accusations were that on November 15, 2014 at GSU officers' headquarters at Ruaka within Nairobi County he was found with seven rounds of ammunition without firearm certificate.

Titi was also charged with being in possession of narcotic drugs contrary to the law. The court heard that on similar dates and place, the accused was found in possession of one roll of bhang of street value Sh 100.

It is alleged that the bhang was not intended for medical use in contravention with the law. The accused were released on a bond and Sh200,000 and one surety of similar amount. The case will be mentioned on December 15.
