Member of the County Assembly wants free milk for all pupils

Kwa Maiko, Kenya; A Member of the County Assembly (MCA) has urged the national government to give all primary school pupils in the country free milk.

Ngewa Ward Rep Karungo wa Thangw'a said free milk would improve pupils' health and encourage them to improve their grades.

"Now that laptops promised by the Government may take some time, the Government should give free milk to pupils in all our schools," said Mr Thang'wa.

The MCA said the programme would also help local farmers find a new and ready market for their milk.

He was speaking in Kwa Maiko shopping centre in his ward when he flagged off a walk organised by the Kenya Red Cross Society to sensitise pupils on keeping fit.

Pupils from five primary schools in the area took part in the walk.
