Mr and Miss Kabarak University unveiled

“…..And the winner is… #drumrolls… Senaiya Edith,”were the words that sent the crowd into a frenzy. The charge went higher when the speakers boomed “Zedi Newtons.” Voila! With that the gala was declared over and the Cultural Week too….

Saturday the 26th July 2014 was one of the most memorable nights for Kabarak University students.

The night, coupled as a gala night, and a concert hosting all gospel’s music heavyweights in the country. Excitement rented the air because for most Kenyans, one would live a whole lifetime without meeting some of the artistes that were performing on this night.

To mention but a few… Size 8, MOG, Bahati, D.K, and Mr. Seed… name them. Well accomplished DJs crowned the occasion such as Dj Mo, Dj Sadiq and the emcees of the night, MC Njugush, Anthony Ndiema and MC Angel made the gala very cheerful and lively. The artists kept everyone on their feet and all literally danced through the night, breaking bones and sweating the night away.

The highlight of the night was the crowning of the highly coveted title of Mr. and Miss Kabarak to the deserving participants. To say the competition was stiff is nothing but an understatement.

The contestants were dressed to kill and they killed. Sharp suits and heels blinding with glitter. It was hard to even predict who would win, and we left the best contestant to win.

Considered by the judges were originality, ingenuity, creativity, decency and concluded by the wits of the contestants by closing with trick questions that sent uproars and down roars up the auditorium in equal measure.

Security was well provided with the police having arrived in droves. As Babu Awino would say, there was no room for cantankerous behavior.

The crowd was mammoth, excitement so thick you could cut through almost literally. It was a night to let go of steam, owing to the fact exams were due in a weeks’ time. Fun was provided absolutely free! The shots and doses of hype euphoria, fun, excitement, and craziness were enough for a lifetime.

“The last time the world jumped up and sat down at the same split second was in the world cup finals. Saturday was yet another day that could be as well equaled to that final match.

Students, seniors and juniors alike, danced to the rhythm and beat of the night. We owned that night, to say the least. For lack of a better word, Campus Vibe Party was defined,” said Franklin Cheluget, a 3rd year Law Student.

Honestly, it was a night the students wished night alone was 24hours. It’s going to remain etched in our campus diaries and entries. It left the energetic crowd yearning for more come 2015.

Big up, crazy and massive respect to the Kabarak University Students Organization and all partners for making the day a reality.
