Dear Baba and crew

Lady Speak

It’s one day to go. I am so excited, I have never witnessed any ‘Saba Saba’ in my life. I cannot wait to participate in this coming one.

What are we complaining about again? Never mind, don’t even tell me the reason because I will not understand. I know you are always right.

I will not have any placard with me because I clearly have no idea what to write on it. That does not mean I will be quiet during the rally.

I will be chanting your name in praise. “Baba samaki haina reverse gear tuendelee kukanyaga mafuta”. Baba, I have never looked forward to any Monday as much as I am looking forward to this particular one.

As some people will be having Monday blues in their offices, we will be having Monday oranges in the streets of Nairobi.

I have not yet received any memo to let us know our meeting point but who cares Baba? We will somehow meet as we play cat and mouse with Ole Lenku’s men.

I know for sure they will come to disperse our ‘peaceful’ rally. Ooooh, I have just been told that we are meeting at Kamkunji Grounds, eiiii yawa Baba, you had to make it Eastlands, just a walking distance from my house.

Worry not Baba, we are because you are. I will be up by 5.30am jogging as I prepare for the day’s marathon.

What does the programme say about dress code and meeting time? Or do we just ‘dress to run’ and wait for your whistle? I know you do not know me personally, but trust me, before the day ends, you will have known about me. I will be at the frontline battling it out with the ‘Sieke’ men. I do not fear bullets, I am ready to die for you.

The people who are against ‘Saba Saba’ are just cowards! What are they afraid of anyway? If Baba says it will be a peaceful rally, trust me it will be! I wish they could see it from our point of view.

I am a single mother of two daughters and I have already talked to them about you. I want them to grow up as your strong supporters.

They know that I will be participating in the ‘Saba Saba marathon’ and can’t wait to see me in the papers.

I promised them that I will be in the frontline with you where the journalists can easily zoom and capture me as they capture you.

When the rally finally begins on Monday, we will be teargased, beaten and shot at. At the frontline, I will be running like a headless chicken trying to locate you Baba.

I will not see you anywhere near me probably because of the teargas, but I will not quit the race. I know you will be somewhere running like a headless chicken as well.

Since you have said that it is a holiday, who am I to go home before you go? I will only leave the streets after you have left.

I am a lifetime member of Cord Defense Force! We will face the ‘Sieke’ men head on, kwani wuotis? When they start shooting at us, we will fight back with stones and words! Baba we are loyal! Baba, now this is from deep down my heart.

I have just been told that you will have your bodyguards with you, I have been told that you will have a bullet proof vest on.

Baba will akina Fidel be with us in the streets? Baba, I have been told that you have no right within your capacity to declare Monday a holiday. I have no bullet proof vest, I am my own bodyguard, when ‘Sieke’ bullets descend on me I will be dead within seconds.

Will you take care of my two daughters? Will you adopt them? I know you will just tweet and say “May all the victims rest in peace”.

Baba, I can never rest in peace, not when my children see me gunned down. The only title I long to have someday is ‘Professor’, not ‘The late’, with all due respect Baba, I am back to my senses, forget all I said before, I am not attending any rally.

I love you so much Baba, but cowards live longer and I want to see my grandchildren just like you.

Yours truly, Cord Defense Force Coward
