Former Kenya Hockey Union men’s premier League champions Kenya Police will be on a mission to register their first win of the season when they face off with Western Jaguars this afternoon in Kakamega. The law enforcers will be hoping to shake off a low start to the season and register a victory after two unsuccessful outings.

Police captain Brian Saina is confident that his charges will overcome their poor start to the season and secure a last four spot.

"We started on a wrong footing but all is not lost. We have to start winning because our fate depends on what we do in our remaining matches,” Saina said.

He added that they are determined to leave Kakamega with maximum points. "We desire to go all the way to the finals but it all depends on our output in our remaining pool matches we can’t afford to drop any points because we risk being locked out of the playoffs.”

Police started the season by drawing against Wazalendo and losing 2-3 to debutants Chase Sailers. They are wary of Jaguars who subjected them to their only loss last season as they went down 1-2 in Kakamega.

Homeboys are ready to pounce and win their first after suffering two losses in Nairobi. Jaguars coach Michael Malungu said that it is a must win match for them. In their second encounter Jaguars play pool B leaders Chase Sailers tomorrow.

Greensharks will tackle Wazalendo today while Parkroad will play Kenya College of Accountancy University.

In the women’s contest, Amira Sailors will take on Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in the first tie of the day at City Park Stadium. Champions Telkom Orange, who sit second on the log with four points, play USIU Spartans tomorrow.
