Gor Mahia defender Owino: No plans to leave K'Ogalo, for now

Gor Mahia defender David Owino ‘Calabar’ has assured their fans that he is still with the club but cannot rule out seeking pastures anew.

Owino said he would play for the club next season but was reluctant to answer more questions why he is continuously linked to a move to Tanzania giant Simba SC.
Gor have a raft of assignments beginning with the prestigious African Champions League and Council for East and Central Africa (CECAFA) Clubs Championships next season.
On the domestic scene, Gor would defend their KPL title, feature in the GOtv Championships and take part in the

Top Eight Tournament.
“I’m on holiday but I cannot rule out a possibility of seeking greener pastures if the chance comes at my doorstep,” Calabar told reporters during the Gor Mahia Nakuru Branch Prestige Fans party at Geranium Resort in Nakuru on Saturday night.

Owino, was coy with his future at Gor only saying, “for now I’m on holiday”.
The international defender, who was in the company of teammate and reserve goalkeeper Joe Bataro were given a standing ovation by the fans led by the branch officials ; chairman Julius Juma and patron Gordon Ogolla, who is also Migori County Assembly Speaker.

“These are some of the players who made us proud and win the Kenyan Premiership title for the second year running and we must support them at all cost. Kudos to them,” said Ogolla amid ululation from K’ Ogalo divas.

Bataro (Joe) refuted claims that he was moving to newly promoted Shabana FC after some fans.

“Those were just mere rumours but I’m still with the club,” Bataro assured the fans.
Gor Mahia Nakuru Prestige branch chairman, Juma, praised the management of the club for their splendid performance even without the support of sponsors.
Patron of the branch Gordon Ogolla thanked Owino for retaining the ‘Defender of The Year Award’ at the KPL Awards gala last month.

“This is not a mean achievement but it goes with a high sense of discipline and we believe this is why Owino retained it for the second successive year,” he said.
