Women Premier League champions Thika Queens pulled a 1-1 draw against Egypt women national football in a friendly match played at Kasarani Stadium yesterday.

Ezzet Amany opened the scores for the visitors in the fifth minute with Lucy Mukwana equalising in the tenth minute.

Commenting after the match, Egypt head coach Mohammed Mustafa said he will change the tactics when his side face Harambee Starlets on Friday.

“It’s not the match we expected to play today but we are going to make changes in our match against the national team because the team has good tactics. I will play my main team on Friday,” he said.

Egypt seemed a better side in the opening minutes of the match, with Thika Queens forced to defend.

The visitors were rewarded as they slotted home an opener on the fifth minute.

On the tenth minute, the visitors equalised, thanks to Mukhwana’s header.

Egypt conceded an indirect free kick when their custodian Eid Elhau handled a back pass on the 37th minute but Thika Queens failed to utilise the chance.

With the a minute left to the breather, Egypt conceded a corner kick but again Thika Queens failed to make something sensible out of it.

A minute later, Queens were on the receiving end, conceding a corner, but nothing came out with Juliet Auma pushing the ball out of danger.

On resumption, both teams continued with the same tempo, with attacks being witnessed from both ends.

On the 55th minute, Mercy Achieng missed a sitter that could have given the home team a lead, with her shot going wide.
