Talks to avert strike collapse after KUPPET officials walk out of meeting with TSC

Kenya: Talks between Teacher’s Service Commission and KUPPET have once again hit a snag after they failed to come to an amicable agreement on the teachers’ salaries. KUPPET walked out of the meeting after talks failed.

According to KUPPET, the government offered increment on allowances instead of adding their salaries.

“We want to dispel rumours that we want to sign a deal. Nothing of sort happened. As we had stated, TSC had no commitment to resolve issues facing teachers,” said KUPPET Secretary General Misori.

The union said that the strike is still on and that teachers should stay away from classrooms.
