
Well-wishers and fans of comedian Henry Desagu have come together to raise one million shillings, with the comedian now admitted at Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital. Desagu is said to be battling depression and alcoholism, something that has seen his fortunes dwindle.
The Kenyan comedian and content creator, known for his sharp wit and relatable humor, has been a popular figure in the Kenyan entertainment scene for his comedic sketches and online presence. However, things have taken a downhill turn and now well-wishers led by legislator Kururia Elijah, MP for Gatundu North.
“We will not watch as this great boychild, Henry DeSagu, whose comedy brings laughter to all of us, is brought down by depression and alcoholism. We will pray for his recovery, have him get quality medical attention and get our lively Desagu back,” The MP posted on his socials.
The lawmaker revealed that it was his name sake and businessman Elijah Njoroge (Mofarm JM ), who has been helping Desagu so far, and also reaching out to explain how serious the situation was for the comedian, which led to his hospitalization.
A fundraising campaign has been launched with the goal of raising one million Kenyan shillings to cover the costs of his treatment and recovery. The initiative has seen an outpouring of support from his loyal fans, and the MPs friends. The campaign has received widespread attention, with celebrities, influencers, and even members of the public pledging donations.
“Let me organise my few friends we raise ??? ??????? ??? ??????, for his medication, rehabilitation and other longistics. I start with Sh100,000,” he shared.
Already the fundraiser has seen donations with the MP listing a number of people who have come through for Desagu.
