Nikon opens outlet, sets sights in Mombasa

World leader in digital imaging and precision optics ,Nikon has opened a new showroom in Mombasa town as it eyes expansion throughout Kenya.

Imaging Solutions Limited, the official and authorized distributor for Nikon Products at the sametime announced the opening of Elite Nikon Pro Shops in Mombasa and Nakuru.

Nikon Managing Director, Mr Takashi Yoshida who graced the unveiling of the Mombasa shoe room located along Moi Avenue said that Kenya's tourism attractions are unmatched the world over and creative photography could be ideal in marketing the attractions.

'' The Kenyan coastal region has numerous beautiful scenaries that could be captured using the right equipment to help market the country as a tourist destination and also prime for film industry,'' Nikon Middle East Sales Manager, Mr Narendra Menon said.

He added that Africa is an emerging market with great opportunities for growth of film industry .

'' There is lack of exposure ,guidance , training as well as inaccessibility to best film equipment to compare equally in the market,'' he said.

He added that with a growing culture of photography , talent can be nurtured and Nikon is ready to partner and enhance enthusiastic dream of photographers.

He said that presently, Nikon has a training programme for first time buyers and occasionally bring international photographers such as Steve Seagal ,a renowned photographer based in South Africa to train local photographers on maximizing the functionalities of a camera.

Nikon cameras are fully capable of movie content such as South Africa Nikon D 810 and D 750 are used in the film industry and such initiatives could empower local content providers in addition to job creation in the market.
