KAA seeks Mombasa airport plan partner

Nairobi; Kenya: Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is looking for a private investor to put up a cargo transit shed at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa. In an advertisement, KAA is seeking to lease land for the development and management of cargo shed facility which would be similar to the Nairobi Cargo Centre at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The pre-bid meeting took place on September 23, where bidders converged at the office of Airport Manager. Sources within the aviation industry in Mombasa said the establishment of a cargo centre was a very viable venture. ‘’With such a project in place, there shall be demand for special cargo carriers to fly to Mombasa and carry goods,’’ the source said. It is also anticipated the move could catapult fresh fruit, vegetable and fish exports to key markets outside Kenya. -Philip Mwakio
