State wants local firms to seek partnerships with international companies to benefit from the latest technology and expand their market share.

The pacts will enable firms to enhance value addition to attract premium prices in the international markets. Industrialisation and Enterprise Development Principal Secretary Wilson Songa said adoption of modern technology will add value to exports, enabling them to fetch better prices.

He noted export commodities in the horticultural sector are poorly packaged, giving foreign goods the leeway to continue controlling the market.
