The
hashtag #JobCrisisKE, aimed at painting the picture of unemployment in Kenya
was trending on social media last week all for the wrong reasons.
The
youth's frustrations on the tag reflected both the Government's letdown and the
'irrelevance of the curriculum content' in the job market as the main cause.
Unemployment in itself is characteristic of any economy. However, when it
manifests in the form of skilled unemployment, that calls for urgent attention.
From an educationist point of view, the Government loses a lot of resources in
such instances. The curriculum isn't the problem, we are our own problem.
