MPs will summon Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to explain the measures the ministry has put in place to curb malpractices by betting firms.

Members of the Parliamentary Labour and Social Welfare Committee yesterday resolved that Mr Nkaissery (pictured) should appear before the team after officials from the Betting and Licensing Board failed to convince them about the strategies the body has in place to protect the public from being fleeced.

Board chairman Anthony Kimani and Gaming Director Charles Wambia, who appeared before Matungu MP David Were's team, were hard-pressed to explain what the agency was doing to curb malpractices in the multi-million shilling gambling industry.

John Serut (Mt Elgon) noted the increase of betting firms, pointing out that some of them were conducting their business illegally.
