Eldoret comes to a standstill as three Kenyans race in Rio Olympics

All activities stalled in Eldoret as residents gathered to watch the races

Eldoret residents brought the town to a 10 minute halt as three Kenyans including Ezekiel Kemboi stole the show at the ongoing Rio de Janero Olympics.

Jane Kemboi wife to Ezekiel who was following the race among a multitude of Eldoret town residents including deputy governor Daniel Chemno said she was contended with her husband’s performance and happy that the gold medal is home.

“For the past fourteen years, my husband has consistently produced sterling performance in the race, that duration is not something to be wished away, he has instead passed the baton to Conseslus Kipruto,” she said.

Dennis Kiptoo, Kemboi’s elder son lauded his father for the performance saying he will follow his footprints when he grows up.

However, the younger sibling Precious Jemutai who watched keenly as her father finished third could not control her emotions as tears rolled her cheeks.

“She wept because of intense pressure and high expectation she had for his father’s win,” said Jane the mother.
