MCAs defect to ODM, pledge to support Raila in 2017

Cord Leader Raila Odinga receives defectors to ODM party during the winding up of his week-long Western region tour at Mumias town in Kakamega on July 22, 2016 where he tore into Jubilee leadership saying they had not fulfilled their promises. He also wondered why police force had not been transformed into a credible police service citing several cases where innocent citizens had been brutally injured and some killed by police recently. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has received five members after Kakamega MCAs defected from affiliate parties.

Moses Nabilindo, Lystone Ambundo and Sophie Ambetsa of UDF and Philip Rupia (Wiper) have vowed to work with ODM.

They said they were left “hanging” after their sponsoring parties “ceased to strongly exist.”

“I join ODM as a real fighter, not a fake one,” said John Ongoro who defected from Cyrus Jirongo’s Federal Party of Kenya.

Receiving them symbolically by putting an ODM cap on their heads, party leader Raila Odinga pledged to ‘ensure free and fair primaries are ahead of 2017’.
