Senate summons Auditor General over Sh41m spent by Kakamega assembly

Auditor General Edward Ouko

State auditors who cleared the Kakamega assembly books of account are in trouble. The Senate says the auditors cleared the assembly’s books of account amounting to Sh41 million in a suspicious manner.

The senate Public Accounts and Investment committee (PAIC) Tuesday summoned the Auditor General Edward Ouko to shed light on the matter.

It accused the auditors of clearing the assembly without verifying the authenticity of the vouchers presented to them.

“The money should be recovered from the clerk for failing to verify the vouchers. He cannot convince us on the authenticity of the vouchers,” said Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
