Sauti Sol’s bus tour is a great music marketing strategy

 Thanks to their management and strategic team, the band will tour the entire country to popularise and sell their album

This week has seen the demise of two icons in the music industry - Prince and African legend, Papa Wemba. May their souls rest in peace.

In matters music, for the past few week, Sauti Sol has embarked on their ‘Live and Die in Africa’ album promotional tour.

Growing up, tour buses were a foreign thing and I only read about them in entertainment magazines. Thanks to their management and strategic team, the band will tour the entire country to popularise and sell their album.

From a performing live band, a hype man, creative team and a concert management team, their album is bound to be the best publicised and sold production in Kenya.

This is the first time a band has held such a well-managed national tour.

Unlike other musicians who solely rely on selling branded merchandise like T-shirts and caps to market themselves, Sauti Sol are taking a different approach.

Artistes need to have a proper strategic and marketing team in place to push their careers.

They need an organised team to handle their business.

In a span of seven years when they first released Lazizi, Sauti Sol have risen from just university students to international stars, touring the country with a bus while other artists are still posing for photos with borrowed cars from their fans.
