Scramble for pretty widow turns ugly as Kiambu man burns rival’s bike

Counties

Whoever said revenge is best served cold must have had one jealous and vengeful man from Ruiru, Kiambu County in mind. That is, if what he did to his pesky rival over a widow he’s wooing is anything to go by.

A tussle to win over the supposedly beautiful woman, whose husband died three years ago, took an ugly turn and spiralled out of control, with one of the two men setting a blaze a motorbike belonging to his rival.

One of the two competitors, surnamed Ndung’u, had been making inroads into the widowed woman’s heart for quite a while now.

But, that another man, a boda boda rider only identified as Githinji, had also been trying his luck with the woman and seemed to have been making great progress, didn’t go down well with him.

When Ndung’u, who happens to have been a regular visitor to the widow’s house, made an impromptu visit, he found a motorbike parked outside, much to his chagrin.

Having kept track of Githinji’s moves and being well aware of his motives, Ndung’u is said to have doused the former’s bike and set it ablaze before vanishing.

“When Ndung’u found Githinji’s bike outside the widow’s house, he poured petrol on it, on suspicion that he was sleeping with her,” said James Mwangi, a resident who witnessed the incident.

Being daytime when the widow’s two children were away in school, Ndung’u suspected only one thing could be happening in the house — a steamy session of passion.

“In this area, Githinji is well-known for his randy nature. So when Ndung’u discovered he had been making passes at the beautiful widow, he became worried. His worst fears were confirmed when he found Githinji’s motor bike parked outside her house. He suspected the two were in the house making love,” revealed Mwangi.

It took the intervention of neigbours who rushed to the scene to put out the fire. Unfortunately, the bike had burnt beyond repair.

“Githinji’s was deeply engrossed in the act and only emerged from the house when it was too little too late. It is neighbours who tried to salvage the motorbike by putting off the fire,” said Mwangi.

Randy widow?

It later emerged that indeed the widow had been secretly seeing both men, without any one of them being any the wiser.

“The woman’s friend confessed that she whispered to her that both men were her boyfriends, and it’s just that she had not yet made up her mind on whom to marry,” said Mwangi, adding that the widow’s promiscuous nature had been laid bare after other neighbours revealed the two are not the only men who regularly visit her.

“It was just a matter of time before she was busted. Some of her neigbours said she always brings different men to her house, though it is not known whether they are just friends or they have other motives,” said Mwangi.

Githinji’s has reportedly gone into hiding, perhaps following the embarrassing nature of the scandal. “Githinji did not report the arson incident to police, probably because of its disgraceful nature. He has also not been seen for days may be because of his now tainted image,” Mwangi said.
