Two film makers die in plane crash in Samburu East

Samburu,Kenya: Two film makers died yesterday in a plane crash in Samburu East. The two French nationals were part of a team shooting a movie at the Sera Community Wildlife Conservancy.

The plane crashed minutes after take-off at Kauro airstrip. The light aircraft had only two people on board.

Samburu East Deputy County Commissioner Wilson Murungu said the plane did not burst into flames, adding that it could not ascend after take-off. "There were only two people on board and they were staying at a lodge at the conservancy.

It looked like a mechanical problem. Seconds after take-off, it landed on its belly," said Mr Murungu.

Samburu East Acting OCPD Jackson Mulupu said the dead were a captain and his co-pilot and were part of crew shooting a documentary and had been there for a while. The conservancy is 25km from Sereolipi police station. "They were part of the team at the conservancy," he said.
