Dubai tech firm joins Kenya’s data market

Technology provider DirectFN has entered a regional partnership, giving it a foothold in Eastern Africa, with Nairobi as its launchpad.

The Dubai-based firm can now sell its business technology solutions across the country after appointing Nairobi research consultancy, Thinktank Marketing, its local distributor.

DirectFN allows financial institutions and private investors to obtain real time and delayed market data and analysis from over 50 stock exchanges, global financial news, and multi-asset class and fundamental data.

Its entry is set to heighten competition in the lucrative sub-sector of market intelligence, as the role of data in business strategy becomes more important.

According to David Hann, the head of sales and marketing at DirectFN, the large demand for customised technology solutions for businesses in the region is expected to provide the firm with the right momentum for growth.

“A lot of firms and individual investors today need a service between what is free from the Internet and what premium vendors have to offer,” he said.
