Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed claims that he was working for Jubilee Party to confuse voters.

Speaking yesterday at Mabanga Farmers Centre in Bungoma County, Mudavadi declared that he was his own man and will set out to prove it.

"So many in Western announced they were in the Presidential race in the 2013 elections but who among them had their name on the ballot? How can Musalia be a coward after going through that tough race?" posed Mudavadi.

He reiterated that ANC was not affiliated to CORD nor Jubilee but was an independent and a registered political party.

"I am here to popularise myself and not to abuse anyone. I urge my supporters to ignore such propaganda and strive to make ANC strong and mobilise grassroots  support,'' said the ANC boss.

Mudavadi, who was accompanied by a number of politicians, was speaking during the launch of the ANC voter registration campaign.

The former deputy premier said he could still become the President if history was  anything to go by as other leaders had succeeded after numerous failed attempts.

"I am optimistic that I am on course though the journey is not easy. I am not seeking to be a Governor or Senator, but President. Presidents Kibaki and Uhuru tried a number of times before they finally won,'' he pointed out.

He  criticised the Jubilee Government for its failure to contain corruption.

"My aim as a presidential candidate is to remove Jubilee from power. How can a government keep humiliating its own citizen through high taxes and bank rates?

This is a result of the growing number of corruption scandals that keep popping every day,'' he said.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula, who was also present, said Mudavadi's entry into the presidential race was not part of a Jubilee scheme to confuse voters.
