Two weeks ago, Eve Woman Magazine and Eve Woman online (www.evewoman.co.ke), in conjunction with CateChris Limited, began the journey of a search for the Valentines with Eve Warmest Couple.
We set up a contest that was unveiled on the Eve Woman Magazine Facebook page. Couples were called to compete for a romantic Valentine’s Day package at The Hilton Nairobi.
To enter the competition, participants were asked post a photo of himself or herself and their loved one with the hashtags #ValentinesWithEve #WarmestCouple on the Eve Woman Facebook page. They were then asked to get as many people to vote for them by ‘liking’ their photo.
When voting closed at noon on Thursday, Anne Okello-K’Ofwa and Vincent K’Ofwa, were declared the Valentines with Eve Warmest Couple. Anne and Vincent were contacted by Eve Woman to claim their prize, an overnight stay in the luxurious deluxe suite at the Hilton for one night.
The couple will also be treated to a champagne breakfast and a relaxing Swedish massage for two. A story about the couple and the package they enjoyed at the Hilton will be featured in Eve Woman magazine next Saturday.
CateChris Limited is a run by veteran event planner Chris Kirwa and his wife Cate. The two are behind the #WarmestCouple Facebook campaign which has been running on the company’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts and aims to celebrate marriage.
They post photos of couples on the page and visitors show their support by liking the posts.The Hilton Nairobi, the main partner in the campaign, is part of an international chain of full service hotels and resorts and the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide.
1. Anne Okello-K’Ofwa and Vincent K’Ofwa (1,175 likes)
Having been married for just a year, the Eve Woman prize is just the icing on the wedding cake for these two, who Vincent says “are still feel fresh from the wedding experience.”
The two met through a mutual friend in 2012 and celebrated their first anniversary on January 17. They have a 9-month-old baby girl, Ariana-Ava Adaya K’Ofwa.
Vincent is a financial consultant and Anne is an aspiring lawyer finalizing her studies at Kenya School of Law. They however will not reveal their age, saying it is prohibited in their culture.
2. Veronica Precious Nyaga and David Chege Matere (1,073 likes)
It was a close call for this couple, having been beaten by a little more than 100 likes when the competition ended. However, their picture had the most comments at 463 against 253 for the winners.
Veronica, 27, is an entrepreneur while David, 33, is an interior designer. They have a son, Jermaine
Jeremy, who is 1 year and 5 months old.
The two met in Thika four years ago while Veronica was working for IEBC and David had come in to make some inquiries regarding the elections. Incidentally, they got engaged last Valentine’s at the Sopa Lodge in Naivasha.
3. Bryan Mangala
The 370 likes that this picture drew was probably as a result of the poem that Bryan dedicated to his valentine. He talked about the things he remembers about her, from the first time he laid his eyes on her. He ended it with the words, “I still cant wait to say ‘I Do’, MY Valentine because I still remember.”
4. Brenda Murunga
This couple had 250 likes on their picture. The two lovebirds attracted a lot of comments on their picture, with one of them saying that they are “a superb couple and a joy to emulate.” What a compliment.
5. Morris Saloney
With 245 likes on this picture(we loved the hair on both!), many of the comments echoed the one word that was on our minds at EveWoman: lovely.
6. Mercy Anthony
This playful couple garnered an impressive 235 likes. We loved the fact that they look like they have a
fun relationship, so Valentines is looking bright for them!
7. Boniface Kilivwa
This picture had 129 likes, with Boniface declaring that each vote was a blessing to the couple. The tender love in this picture is evident, with most of the 53 commenters declaring what a cute couple they are. We agree!
8. Jay Njeru Mteule and Denis Mteule
“Couldn’t find a place to put the wedding certificate,” read the caption on this picture that had
114 likes. The fun that was clearly had at this wedding is almost tangible. The bride explained in the photograph that “he had a kaftaan and loafers with no socks. Ilikua ngumu kupata mahali... Hahahahaa... If only men wore [bras].”
9. Yvonne Yvie Lynda
This cool couple garnered 95 likes. They may not be smiling, but are clearly happy and in love. Bold lipstick and beautiful nails on the lady, we must add!
10. Dan Kinyanjui
This picture came in at number 10 with 74 likes, a tie between them and the next couple. We loved their matching outfits and very beautiful smiles.
10.Waceke Kamau.
Tying in at number 10, we loved the feel of this picture, and the couple is clearly having a good time out in the wild. The lady’s lipstick matches the mood of the season perfectly.
