MP roots for scheme to help officers killed on duty

Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has proposed a special compensation scheme for security officers who die in terror attacks. Speaking at a burial ceremony of an administration police officer who lost his life during an operation in Boni forest last week, Mwangangi said he will be petitioning National Assembly security committee to legislate on improved insurance security officers in the country.

“If an MP passes on today his family is compensated handsomely and in a timely manner. Why don’t we also treat the officers who lose their lives in line of duty with same respect?” he said.

He also called on the government to rethink it’s strategy on terror.

“We cannot withdraw KDF from Somalia at this stage, but we won’t be there forever,” he said.
