Residents of Nairobi should prepare to be led by a female governor in 2017, the Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) Secretary General Seth Panyako has declared.
Panyako has vowed to lobby his members to vote out Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero in 2017 for allegedly undermining nurses.
In a fiery statement, Panyako argued that Kidero has mistreated health workers in the county since taking office.
According to Panyako, 67 nurses and one clinical officer have been fired under questionable circumstances in his watch.
“Kidero has failed residents of this county, more so health workers. He has left vital sectors to be run by cartels and even encourages them by having them promoted,” claimed Panyako.
The Knun SG said Nairobi County is the worst when it comes to remuneration of health workers, followed by Kakamega.
“There is no way Kidero is becoming Nairobi governor for the second time. That one I promise. In fact, the next governor will be a woman,” declared Panyako.
When asked which female candidate he was referring to, Panyako said: “It is obvious, you know the female candidate who has the greatest chance of being a governor.
