Arsene Wenger is convinced Arsenal ’s run-in can give them a huge advantage over their title rivals.

Wenger has set his players a target of being within a point of the top with a month to go and believes that will give them great chance of being crowned champions.

That is the reason why Wenger is refusing to panic even after dropping five points behind leaders Leicester because he is convinced Arsenal will make up ground in the final weeks.

Arsenal face a nightmare February after Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth with Leicester at the Emirates, an FA Cup tie with Hull three days before they face Barcelona and they finish the month at Manchester United.

But they still have Swansea, West Brom, Watford, Crystal Palace, Norwich and Aston Villa to come at the Emirates as Arsenal have got winnable games in the run-in.

They still have to go to Tottenham, West Ham and Everton but a potential title decider at Manchester City is their only game against a team from the top half of the table in the final month.

Gunners boss Wenger insists his players are not feeling the pressure and was measured in his criticism after the game, maintaining they played well but could not finish.

Wenger said: “It’s true that we’ve had a stuttering start in 2016. Our January was bad, starting from the last minute at Liverpool, and then at Stoke. Where we especially have a big deficit is in our last two home games.

“That’s where we have the deficit at the moment. We have to catch that back and we have a difficult programme, especially away from home. We need to respond quickly away from home now.

“We are still in the fight in the Premier League, so let’s as well be a bit realistic. I believe that top-quality people respond when they are in trouble. That’s a good way to do it.”

Arsenal have, however, suffered confirmation of their worst injury fears as veteran Tomas Rosicky is unlikely to play for the club again.

Scans revealed 35-year-old Rosicky has suffered severe damage to his thigh which he injured just three minutes into his comeback game last Saturday.

Czech midfielder Rosicky is now facing a race to be fit for the Euros this summer after his contract expires at the Emirates.
