KCPE results to be released December 30

NAIROBI: This year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results shall be released December 30. Education PS Belio Kipsang' yesterday said the 937,467 candidates shall know their fate.

Candidates must, however, be a worried lot as the examination irregularities that marred this year's exams may lead to massive results cancellation. Last month, Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) warned candidates that the marking process of the national examination shall be tightened to punish candidates who may have accessed examination material ahead of time.

Knec faced tough challenges administering the 2015 Standard Eight and Form Four examinations with revelations some exam papers were leaked.

Some 14 teachers, two police officers, 79 candidates and a parent were arrested over examinations leaks.

"Appropriate action will be taken against anyone found to have involved in abetting examination malpractice. Teachers and other government officials who will be found to have been involved will be handed over to their respective employers for disciplinary action," Knec Chief Executive Officer Joseph Kivilu had said.

He noted that 'other persons will be dealt with according to the Knec Act, 2012, and other relevant laws.

Thursday, Kivilu declined to comment on the specific details. "Let us wait for the examination results," he said.

The Teachers Service Commission warned its staff members last month that those found to have taken part in the examination malpractice shall face heavy penalties.
