A woman has told police that her boyfriend, who is a journalist in one of the local media stations, assaulted her.

According to the woman, Seth Olale (pictured right) threatened to break her neck if she left him for another, allegations the journalist has denied and is instead accusing her of blackmail.

The woman (pictured left) recorded a statement at Ongata Rongai Police station under OB 6/11/2015.

Olale told The Nairobian that he has since recorded a statement with the police on what he claims is an outright attempt to blackmail him.

“We started dating late last year. All was okay for the first few months until I noticed he was too possessive. So I quit the relationship in September this year, and that’s when the threats started,” the woman told this writer.

One of the threatening text messages seen by The Nairobian, and which Seth has denied knowledge of, reads: “(Name withheld) I will break your neck! I swear! I will tear you into pieces!”

In reply, the woman writes: “We are done. Please.” In reply, the said man writes: “Bullshit. I swear you will regret ever meeting me! You’re mine and mine alone. Don’t cause someone to die”

The woman told The Nairobian she had moved on and was already in another relationship and in another text, which the woman claims came from Seth, reads: “I won’t let you go so easily and you must choose to live or die because I won’t stand you with another man”.

The woman claims to have met the journalist to sort their differences, only for him to turn violent.

“He pounced on me and started beating me mercilessly. He demanded to know why I left him for another man,” she claims, adding that Seth forced her into his car and drove off.

The woman claims she escaped from Seth’s car leaving behind her phone and purse. It is then that she took a boda boda to the nearest police station where she reported the matter.

A medical report from Nairobi Women’s Hospital dated November 24, 2015 under reference number ORM/8906 reads,

“The above mentioned person was seen here on Saturday morning at 2am after being assaulted by her boyfriend. She was hit with blows, kicks and slaps on the face, head, chest, abdomen and lower abdomen.”

Another text message sent to the woman, and seen by The Nairobian reads:“I just miss you... I know I am not supposed to be seeing you but I just feel like being with you now. I will respect that you are with your new man and can limit my engagement. But I just need to hug you and cry over your shoulders. You really want to destroy me this way?”

The woman replies, “You didn’t think that raping me, your girlfriend, was not destroying?”

In reply the text reads, “I am sorry please. You want me to top headlines? Seeing me in prison will make you happy (Name)? I am at your mercies (Name). You can decide to kill me or let me live.”
