Paint company eyes western region for growth

Regional paint manufacturer, Crown Paints will increase its paint production capacity from 2.3 million litres to 3.6 million litres per month on completion of the Sh400 million plant being set up in Kisumu County.

The company’s chief executive officer Rakesh Rao (pictured) says once the new plant is operational early next year, it will reduce the cost of transport significantly while improving sales. Mr Rao said the western area is experiencing growth particularly in real estate, with investors eyeing Kisumu, Eldoret and Kitale among other towns, which creates an ideal opportunity for the firm to strengthen its presence and to tap into the growing market.

“This region has produced over 40 per cent of the company’s sales and is establishing a new plant in Kisumu which is central regionally, will not only enhance efficiency but also improve our sales in the region,” he said.
