A Form Four student had to pay Sh200,000 cash bail to be set free after he was accused of killing his nephew aged nine years.
It is alleged that the Form Four student had been asked by his sister to mete out punishment on his nine-year-old nephew for reportedly splashing porridge on his teacher in their school.
Police said that the accused’s sister, who is the mother of the deceased boy, reportedly asked her brother to punish his nephew after he missed school for pouring porridge on his teachers.
It is reported that the mother had earlier taken the boy to police to be disciplined, but was advised to talk to him instead.
It is then that the accused, after allegedly being asked to punish the boy, used a rubber whip to flog the minor.
The boy is said to have lost consciousness and was rushed to a nearby clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The accused was then arrested by police. He denied the manslaughter charge. The case will begin on April 15, 2016.
