Beef up security on Southern Bypass

I was travelling to Nakuru from Mombasa recently during the day and decided to use Nairobi Southern Bypass for the first time, before an oncoming motorist signalled to me that all was not well along the route.

On further inquiry, I was informed that highway robbers had mounted an illegal roadblock with huge rocks and were brandishing knives, sticks and iron bars. One had something that looked like a gun.

I then quickly made a three-point turn and went through Nairobi city centre.

If security is beefed up along the Southern Bypass, congestion will ease in   Nairobi.

All motorists from Mombasa, Kwale, Makueni, Machakos, Taita-Taveta counties will use the bypass instead of the city centre when their security is guaranteed.

Consequently, Nairobi will automatically and drastically be decongested.

Police should patrol the bypass day and night.
