Suspect found in possession of elephant tusks released on Sh1m bond

Bomet, Kenya: A court in Bomet has released on a Sh1 million bond, a middle aged man found in possession of two pieces of elephant tusks worth Sh2.2 Million.

Stanley Koske was charged before Bomet Resident Magistrate Gideon Kiage with two counts of being in possession of elephant trophies illegally and dealing with wildlife trophies without a license.

He denied the charges and was released on a Sh1 million bond and sureties of similar amount.

He has been accused that on August 27, 2015 at Silibwet Trading Centre, officers acting on a tip off from members of the public, arrested him while in possession of the trophies weighing 2.5 kilogrammes with a street value of Sh 2.2 million

Koskei, however, could not raise the Sh1Million bond and was remanded in custody until September 10 when his case will come up for mention.
