Night guards killed in Dandora church raid

Nairobi, Kenya: Two night watchmen were Tuesday morning killed in an attack on a church that is under construction in Dandora, Nairobi.

A third guard is in hospital with serious wounds after he was also hacked during the attack. Police said a gang of eight raided the Dandora Phase II Catholic Church compound and slashed the guards who were on duty before escaping on foot without stealing anything from them.

The two died on the spot after suffering deep cuts in the heads.

Police who arrived at the scene say they are yet to know the motive of the attack and those behind it.

The guard who survived said the gang did not utter a word when they started to attack them.

Buruburu OCPD Richard Kerich said a team of police officers has been sent to the area to trace the attackers.

“We are yet to know what motivated the attack because they escaped soon after hacking the three. Two died on the spot,” said Kerich.

The bodies were taken to the mortuary. Police said there had been similar robbery attempts at the compound but the attackers were repulsed.
