Senate hearings on Kenya Airways continue

Kenyans are nowhere closer to finding out what is ailing Kenya Airways, even after senior managers of the national carrier were grilled by a special Senate committee.

Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer Mbuvi Nguze and three other managers appeared before the committee and were grilled for more than three hours, after which the committee explained it was yet to get conclusive answers on the woes bedeviling the airline.

Committee Chair Anyang' Nyong'o (Kisumu) said they want more information from the managers on the circumstances surrounding the airline's current state.

Public hearings are set for today and Wednesday, where the public will be given the opportunity to give views related to the airline's operations.

"I cannot say we have got conclusive answers so far. It is quite clear there is a problem with the human resource. Once you hear that people have withdrawn services, it means there is a problem," he said.
