Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has vowed to complete stalled water projects.

He said he will also prioritise establishment of good relations with donors. Mr Wamalwa, who was speaking during his official handover ceremony at Maji House yesterday, said he would ensure stalled projects resume immediately.

“We have the Umaa Kitui Dam and Badasa Marsabit Dam, which hold the capacity to provide water to over 50,000 people, which stalled. These will be among the first projects I will address,” he said.

Wamalwa stressed the importance of donors in ensuring provision of clean water to all Kenyans.

“I will be travelling to Addis Ababa tomorrow to join the President in a very important conference. The conference is a good opportunity to interact with possible donors,” he said.

“I will be working closely with county governments to help address water challenges in various regions,” he added.

He dismissed claims there was a tussle between him and the Ministry of Environment. Wamalwa said he would adopt an open-door policy with the media and others stakeholders to ensure there is no confusion or misinformation.

“Let us focus on delivering to the Kenyan people. I am open to answer and clarify anything that is not being understood by the public,” he said.
