Fisherman drowns in lake

Grief gripped Lake Naivasha fishermen after their colleague drowned while fishing.

The incident near Kasarani landing beach in North Lake affected operations at the lake yesterday morning as the fishermen mounted a search for the body, which took an hour to retrieve.

Lake Naivasha Boat Owners Association Chairman David Kilo said the man, who was in the company of his colleague, was working on the engine when he slipped and fell and in the process drowned.

"It happened very fast and by the time rescuers came in, the man had already died," said Mr Kilo. The man had no life-saving jacket on.
