Leaders mourn former Ainamoi MP, recognise his service as CID boss

Former Criminal Investigations Department (CID) boss and Member of Parliament for Ainamoi constituency Noah arap Too died on Tuesday night at Nairobi Hospital.

The one-term MP represented Ainamoi constituency on a Kanu ticket from 2002 to 2007 after trouncing former Water minister, the late Kipngeno arap Ngeny.

Deputy President William Ruto described Too as a celebrated police officer who served with dedication as CID boss.

Mr Ruto also said Too will be remembered for his service as MP for Ainamoi between 2002 and 2007 as he helped improve the living standards of his constituents.

Resourceful person

The current Ainamoi MP Benjamin Langat described the late Too as a resourceful person who used his links in the security circles to secure employment for local youths in the various security agencies.

In his message of condolence, former State House Comptroller and Roads minister Franklin Bett said he had known Too for many years as he was a family friend.

Bett, who was among a few individuals at the late Too’s bedside as doctors fought to save his life, described the deceased as a principled person who was always thorough in his work.

“The late Too never left anything to chance during his tenure at the Criminal Investigations Department and I was also privileged to work with him when he was a young moderate politician,” said Bett.

Former long-serving councillor for Biashara Ward in Kericho Abdulahi Kiptanui, who also worked closely with the late Too, described him as a selfless man whose aim was to improve the lives of others.

Too was one of the longest-serving heads of CID (renamed Directorate of Criminal Investigations). He was appointed in 1984 and served until February 1999.
