Nairobi: Kenya: Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia may soon start fielding defender Dirkir Glay in local league matches. The former Thika United defender has been a conspicuous absence in K’Ogalo’s league matches after missing out on the first three matches due to lack of work permit – a critical requirement by the Ministry of Labor for all foreigners drawing a salary from any work in the country.

Gor Mahia has already submitted all requirements to process the Liberian’s papers and as Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala confirmed, everything is look up now. “We have already received communication from the authorities confirming receipt of our documents and soon we’ll get Glay cleared for domestic competition.”

This however, should not be confused with the International Transfer Certificate acquired for players crossing borders. In Glay’s case, there’s no need for ITC at this stage since he was making a move from a local club. Despite Dirkir Glay having featured for Thika United last season, the law requires every new employer to obtain new work permits for its employee.

Glay is seen by Gor Mahia technical bench as having made a promising partnership at the heart of defense with longtime club servant Musa Mohammed and in his absence from the local scene, youngster Harun Shakava has partnered Musa.

Over the past five seasons Gor Mahia has never moved to the subsequent season with the same pairing at the centre of its defense.
