Armed raiders walk away with 38 cows

A heavily armed gang of cattle rustlers on Saturday night raided Mbombo village, Laikipia North constituency, and stole stole 38 cows. A resident, Benson Kamara, said the gang raided the home of one Simon Kipchumba and sprayed his houses with bullets before stealing the animals.

Nobody was hurt during the 10pm incident. "Mr Kipchumba's family was lucky because the bullets did not penetrate the mud walled houses. But the number of cartridges that were counted were around 60," said Mr Kamara.

He said police responded at 5am and claimed their vehicles had no fuel. By last evening, residents pursuing the animals were at Churo, 48km from Mbobo.
