ERC reduces December fuel prices by average Sh4

NAIROBI: Consumers in Kenya will have a reason to smile if fuel traders comply with December fuel prices as recommended by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

In its monthly price control announcement, ERC reduced the price of kerosene by Sh4.94, petrol down by Sh4.79 and diesel down by Sh3.67 effective Sunday midnight.

With the new prices, in Nairobi kerosene will retail at Sh71.37, diesel at Sh90.85 and petrol is expected to be sold at Sh102.01.

ERC attributed the drop in prices to lower global crude oil prices, the lowest since May 2009.

Before the announcement, motorists in Nairobi had reported fuel shortage in many parts of the city, resulting to long queues in the few stations that still had stock.
