Police recover Ceska pistol, 14 bullets from Naivasha lodging

Nakuru, Kenya: Police in Naivasha have recovered a pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition from a lodging left behind by two suspected gangsters.

It is believed that the suspects dropped the gun during an altercation with a sex worker over payment.

One of the suspects is said to have approached the sex worker along Kariuki Chotara Street seeking her services, and then checked into the lodging after a brief chat.

"While in the room, the suspect was joined by another man and they sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing with her mobile phone," he said.

He said the woman raised an alarm, making her colleagues to rush to the room only to find the loaded pistol under a bed.

"The suspects may have dropped the pistol while trying to run away and we informed police who came and collected the weapon," said the guard.

A senior police officer, who declined to be named, said they had launched investigations into the incident.

"We have taken the details of guns and forwarded them to the Government ballistics department so that we can know who owns it," said the officer.

The midnight incident attracted tens of resident as police embarked on a major manhunt for the two suspects. The find comes barely a month after unknown people raided a house belonging to a junior officer in Mai Mahiu Police Station and stole his AK47 rifle.
