MEDIA 7 Publisher/CEO wins Nelson Mandela award

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) recently feted some of its top students and alumni at a glittering ceremony in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. NMMU presented Rising Star, Special and Achiever awards to an array of graduates in diverse fields, from architecture and sports, to business, pharmacy and NGO sector. Among the award recipients is Kenyan magazine publisher and marketing guru, Dr Hanningtone Gaya, who received the NMMU Alumni Special Award for 2014 in recognition for his outstanding contribution in his specialised field of study, bridging the discourse between marketing of services and strategic management, by extending the resource-based-view (RBV) theory, for his distinguished service to his home country and in recognition of his exemplary work as an NMMU ambassador. Those who also received the NMMU Alumni awards were Dr Amber Andersson, Nomkhita Mona, Baxolile Mabinya, Nicholas Hafner, Deon Schoeman, Tracy Cheetham and Garret Barnwell. Hanningtone Gaya is the first and only graduate to receive the NMMU award form outside South Africa.
