Elly Mukolwe warns refs over AFC, Sony tie

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has warned its match officials against officiating next Wednesday's scheduled league match between Sony Sugar and AFC Leopards.
The federation's head of technical committee Elly Mukolwe said the match has not been sanctioned by them.
"Any official who officiates the match stands suspended," Mukolwe said in a four line statement.
Mukolwe spoke a day after KPL announced it has rescheduled the on and off match to next Wednesday.
AFC Leopards Organising Secretary Timothy Lilumbi had also raised doubts over the match being played when he insisted that they ought to be compensated for the money they spent to travel to Nakuru when the match was earlier supposed to be played in August.
The new development is likely to infuriate Sony Sugar coach Zedekiah Otieno even more as the coach expressed his ire at the continued delaying of the fixture.
The former international said it is unfair that the match is yet to be played yet the season is over and insists arrangements must be made to expedite it.
"This is a very important match for us because the results will decide whether we finish among the top eight. However, we continue to be in the dark regarding its fate and this is mentally disturbing especially for the players," he said.
He further said Sony Sugar players are still training almost one month after the season officially ended as they do not want to be caught off-guard.
"We have to continue training as we do not know when the match will be played or whether it will be played in the first place. For us the matters surrounding the match are very clear and should be sorted out quickly."
The match was originally scheduled to be played two months ago, but Sony Sugar declined to travel to Nakuru's Afraha Stadium which was to host the fixture.
The sugar millers argued that being their home match they should have been allowed to determine where to host it.
After they failed to travel to Nakuru, KPL awarded AFC Leopards the match.
However, Sony lodged an appeal with the Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee (IDAC) which ruled for a replay.
But Leopards appealed to Football Kenya Federation Appeals Committee which upheld the decision of the IDAC.
Unsatisfied FKF ordered for a review of the decision after KPL had set the date for the replay. The matter is still pending before the FKF appeals committee.
