Head to head: DJ Pierra heats up DJ Creme

When the sassy and adorable Pierra Makena and ‘showbiz main man’ DJ Crème de la Crème heat up the decks, needless to say that something will surely melt. This is the ultimate Pulse decks rumble.

Combining skill and physical charm, the sensational DJ Pierra Makena hits the decks, making the crowd go wild. During this particular show, her mentor Crème de la Crème is watching on the side, warming up for his set.

He is the show stopper but Pierra will no doubt want to steal his thunder. She is the new queen of the decks after-all.

“The thing is both Crème and I got mad skills as DJs and I respect the fact that I learn a lot from him. But I think I have better connection and chemistry with my fans. I thought that was rather obvious,” with a chuckle, Pierra shoots first.

“My deejaying skills are my stronghold. And being this gorgeous damsel I am, it is no doubt that this package comes with added value. I know men are watching this space,” she fuels the war.

"She beats me at being pretty, that's about it. Like really," DJ Cream pokes back.

Crème has been in the industry for quite a while now and has ascended to continental fame as a Channel O DJ (together with DJ Joe Mfalme).

But critics argue that Pierra, who kicked off her dejaying career following a successful radio and acting stint, is attracting all the attention and could topple Crème from the top sooner that we think.

Crème has exceptional skills in House music. Pierra’s strength lies in dancehall mixing.

The two can be really versatile with hip-hop and local tunes combining as their other two strengths. Besides, their fans are so loyal that they would almost kill to have their preferred candidate run with belt.

"I could teach Pierra almost everything about the decks and it would still look brand new to her," Cream warns. "Unless it's a beauty contest or something like twerking, she ain't got a thing to show yet," he remarks.

“Given a chance I would teach Crème how to loosen up when spinning. He is usually too stiff and he rarely jells with the people. I would want him to teach me how to hype the crowd as he is a master at that. He has really mastered that bit of deejaying,” Pierra jibes.

"Kleptomaniacs must have had her in mind when they wrote "Ajipe miaka kaa nane..." and being the handsome guy I am, she should just top that with another eight years before she dreams of being like me. For now, all I can teach her is that there can be only one me," he concludes.

And well, there we are; to avoid getting caught up in the mini skirt debate, we can only say; "Be good to a sister, this is a wrap. Let's enjoy some creme for now."
