Sofapaka delayed Gor Mahia’s march towards the title after stopping the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions 3-2 at Machakos Municipal Stadium, on Sunday.

A double by Fiston Razak and another from Antony Ndolo were enough to give Sofapaka all three points in a match that was sometimes stopped due to crowd trouble.

After the result, Sofapaka remain second on the log with 53 points while Gor Mahia are still at the top on 54 points.

The result throws wide open the title chase with two matches to go. An own goal by Sofapaka defender Eugine Asike opened the scores for Gor Mahia.

But Sofapaka recovered quickly and settled down to earn an equaliser in the 18th minute when Rizak scored with a clinical finish.

Come the second half and Sofapaka kept up the pressure and it was just a matter of time before Rizak scored his second this time jumping to head home an Enock Agwanda throw in the 52nd minute.

Then Anthony Ndolo scored the third goal in the 73rd minute with Agwanda again setting up the goal.
But Gor Mahia pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Godfrey Kizito. It was, however, not enough for the KPL champions.

In Kisumu, AFC Leopards beat Chemelil Sugar 1-0 in a match that was played without fans.
Leopards goalkeeper Martin Musalia finished the first half without making any save as Chemelil were subdued while his counterpart on the other side Fredrick Ouna had to seek treatment early in the first half after the ball from Charles Okwemba hit his nose.

In the 40th minute, Noah Wafula was brought down by Wellington Murwayi in the right flank of the pitch, making centre referee Raphael Nduati call for a foul that was taken by Edwin Wafula but Charles Okumu headed the ball out.

Leopards got their lone goal in the 88th minute after Mike Khamati scored to give his side three important points.

At Machakos Stadium, Mathare United and Sony Sugar drew 1-1 in this Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match.

Edwin Ombasa put Mathare United ahead in the 10th minute with a well taken shot that hit the post before crawling into the net with Lucas Indeche well beaten.

But the lead lasted only for four minutes as Marwa Chamberi equalised for the sugar millers from the penalty spot.

In Mombasa, Bandari cemented their stay in the premier league next season after they held KCB to a 1-1 draw at the Mombasa County Stadium.

Bandari have 29 points with two matches remaining while KCB have 25 points with two matches at hand and only need two points to survive the axe.
